What's your go-to method for generating new ideas or overcoming creative blocks?

My go-to method for generating new ideas involves stepping away from the work environment to immerse myself in nature or engage in a different creative activity, like painting or cooking, which helps refresh my perspective and spark new insights. Overcoming creative blocks often requires me to actively seek out inspiration from books, podcasts, or conversations with peers, allowing me to view challenges from fresh angles and find innovative solutions.

Reading a book (fiction) or spending time with friends and family to completely remove myself from the professional environment. Re-orienting yourself as a person and your values and real goals in life is priceless - it’s so easy to get caught up in the trivial things when you spend every minute on what you’re building or doing in work. Sounds cheesy and kind of obvious, but my best work is in the days I come back into work after I’ve done this.

@claudianathan very interesting Claudia. Completely resonate with the re-orientation of self as a person and values. It's so easy to get caught up in every day non-important details.

Great discussion topic Amit, I was about to start one on this but then found yours! I agree with @zijian, all my best ideas come when I'm relaxed & in a creative environment that inspires me. It could be an art gallery, theatre, music gig, play etc, or it could be somewhere in nature while bushwalking, snowboarding, kayaking or even just walking the dog. Also, as others mentioned listening to podcasts or reading books help too. Meditation is another great way to unblock your mind.
