Those of you developing software, what APIs are you using in your applications as utilities for data or other small functionalities/utilities? Are you building your own APIs or are you using third party ones?

I'm a sucker for the Google Maps API - it's like having a trusty virtual Sherpa guiding your app through the digital wilderness! Are you more of a DIY API architect or a fan of tapping into third-party APIs for your projects?
