when are you giving away too much value for free?

People say that you have to give away tons of value before you can expect anything in return.
Ive spent 100s of hours of my time giving away free value to prospects..
Do you think I should be spending my time with a monetization strategy instead of spending my hours giving away free value every day and wait for an opportunity?
how do you find that balance?

If you consistently provide high-value content, products, or services for free, people may start to undervalue what you offer. They may become accustomed to receiving things for free and be less willing to pay for your premium offerings.

Once you have build up your space and have audience/followers, it is the perfect time to start monetizing the work.
I try to capture it of course. It's difficult to ask for money. For the moment I ask for time. Time to chat and discuss our product. Feedback can bee valuable too! From that point onwards I try to engage them and redirect them to one of our marketing programs.
