A few things come to mind: * A certain amount of freedom. Don't micro-manage. * A feeling of ownership of the things they're working on. * Feeling that what they're working on is important. * A feeling of community. Make sure all of your teams and employees feel like they're working towards a common goal. * Fair compensation. * Space to grow into - i.e., a career path within the company that allows further growth. * Work that aligns with their interests and career goals.
