Why does all team collaboration software seem so unoriginal?

It seems like everyone keeps on getting this *amazing* idea to build a software for team collaboration, but it seems so unnecessary. With the number of solutions on the market, I genuinely don't understand why people continue to build these one-stop-shop type platforms. Personally, I believe that email is perfectly suitable for small teams. Any thoughts?

I believe the collaboration plugin we are introducing for Slack is very original. We are automatically detecting implicit and explicit commitments when messages are posted and prompting the user to formailze their commitment to another team member. They receive badges and reliability, punctuality, and confidence ratings based on their track record of keeping promises. Original?

Hello! What do you mean by "unoriginal"? I know that there are platforms that are great for collaboration in a large company with a lot of work processes. But there were those that fettered my actions at work and I had limited opportunities.

@ixord They all have a to-do list, calendar, and some way to assign tasks. On top of that, they seem to have one somewhat original feature, but it seems unnecessary.
