Will ChatGTP replace Google?

It seems like Twitter Feed is full of screenshots from ChatGTP. The answers quality is mind-blowing. It answers all your questions, corrects mistakes, writes code and articles. So, will people switch from search engines like Google to ChatGTP?

I must say I have trouble envisioning anything other than a world where ChatGPT-like engines will replace Google as the dominant search engine in the near future. As opposed to Google, ChatGPT is constantly improving and evolving, and it is capable of generating human-like responses to text-based inputs, which is a much more natural way to interact with people asking questions.

Google is really powerful, and given the OpenAI's mission - I doubt there will a "war" between the two. I believe there will be a partnership of some sort, in the end.

We all know the answer, it will not replace Google. It will not take our jobs either. Some sort of collaboration - yes, very much possible. Replacing Wikipedia - also very much possible.

ChatGPT + Microsoft or any other corporation/startup that build a better way to gather the world's information can replace Google, assuming Google doesn't buy it.

Not in the near future, but it will certainly take away share from Google and websites like Stackoverflow. The beauty of ChatGPT, as compared to Google, is that it provides a succinct and (mostly) correct answer to the most difficult questions. Also, it understands context, takes user input and improves its results.
Currently, it is not possible since ChatCPT is unsure about the correctness of the data it shows. Basically, it crawls the web and tries to bring a suitable answer using ai algorithms. However, in the short future with the real human feedback this will be possible.

Not sure about search engine migration because it cannot search the inherent but rather search its own servers. We can't ask it to find a website data or URL. But indeed its capability is mind blowing. Can be a very good assistant for research purposes (as for me 😅). Cannot replace search engines until it becomes one and allows creator to rank and submit their pages. 🤔 Overall, a wonderful stuff to be taken advantage of as a creator and also developer.

ChatGPT has so many applications that it will require hours to properly lay out the implication on its use. I personally have used it on numerous occasions which made me believe that it on a different level than google. For instance ChatGPT can suggest prompts for image creation tools (ChatGPT, DALL-E & midjourney). It can provide elaborate analysis on specific issues whereas google can not (you can prompt it to further elaborate on the search, add specific tone to the answer, be influenced by a specific person or provide examples of theories provided by other people). It may also provide answers under certain theme (use pirate theme for laughs- it is genuinely good) and can even write code!! Code which you can then use to execute commands. Some results may be at odds as previously mentioned, but you can correct and narrow down your search on the next prompt, thus making it superior to google search. Just me two cents -

@apollon440 Google Hangouts will no longer be available to workspace clients starting in March. Google is prepared to enter the last stage of the transition for users of Google Workspace from Classic Google Hangouts to Google Chat. The IT company has declared that starting on March 22, 2022, Google Conversation will be the standard chat programme.https://www.thebestprinter.net/b...

Taking down the market giant (Google) is not the piece of cake I believe.

I’m more hoping that Google and such services will start using it under the hood.

Not yet, but in time it, or another large language model like it, will become the dominant internet front end, replacing web browsers. IMHO.

Time for Google to rethink how to organize the world's information in an accessible and useful way.

Yeah for sure. this is never going to happen😏

ChatGPT still has lots of issues with providing incorrect information. For example, it said that BLOOM (another large language model) was developed by OpenAI when it was in fact developed by bigscience. Google has lots of incorrect info too, but there is much more diversity such that you'll definitely be able to find something that's correct. I think ChatGPT will be incorporated into Google, not replace it. Perhaps it can give more focused searches, or allow for summarization of jargonized sources like scientific articles, which I think would be a great boon for the general public, since it makes science more accessible.

I think it will not replace Google.

The term "replace" is inaccurate. ChatGTP focuses on natural language generation, and it requires a lot of learning, just like Google did every day. The relationship between Google and ChatGTP is more like complementary.

Workspace users will no longer be able to use Google Hangouts from March. Google is all set to move into the final phase of the migration from Classic Google Hangouts to Google Chat for Google Workspace customers. The tech giant has announced it will make Google Chat the default chat application from March 22, 2022. https://certifiedmexicanpharmacy...
