NEW from GitHub

This newsletter was brought to you byWispr Flow

gm legends ✨

It's that time of day again. Welcome back to the Leaderboard – the newsletter where we break down the products you ought to know about. In today's issue: GitHub's new coding agent, an app that breaks screen addiction and encourages fitness, and an AI breaking down language barriers. Also, we've curated some of the top trending discussions happening on the Forums right now. Let's go.

P.S. We're testing a slightly tweaked format for the today's Leaderboard. Let us know what you think!

Ship fast without breaking things

GitHub Copilot’s Agent Mode takes a hands-on approach to coding. Instead of just suggesting snippets, it follows through—writing code, debugging, testing, and even fixing its own mistakes. You describe what you need, and it handles the setup, from structuring files to catching errors before they break everything.

🔥 Our Take: 2024 was the year of coding agents and right now, there are two sides to the same coin. One makes developers' lives easier with things like function automation, think Cursor while the other generates entire apps, think Bolt. It will be interesting to see which side comes out on top, if any.

No pushups? No scrolling

No workout? No scrolling. By tracking activities like steps, meditation, and outdoor time, Fitlock ensures you earn your screen time. It’s kind of like having a personal trainer who controls your app access, keeping you active and focused.

🔥 Our Take: So many screen-lock apps have launched to fanfare but have failed to make any sizeable impact. Fitlock’s carrot and stick approach might get two birds with one stone, breaking screen addiction in its users whilst also making an impact on sedentary lifestyles.

Goodbye language barriers

Talo AI makes video calls less awkward when you don’t share a language. Instead of clunky subtitles or waiting for a delayed translation, it translates speech in real time, keeping the conversation flowing. Less lost-in-translation moments, more actual talking.

🔥 Our Take: Since AI burst onto the scene in 2022, a lot of the immediate use-case has been focused on automating creativity, whether it’s writing, image generation, or video creation. Translation is one of those things where AI could really flex its muscles and see mass adoption.
