Hi Product Hunt 👋! I’m Matt the founder of Incognito for Slack. Thanks, @kevin for the hunt! 👀 Be sure to check out the special discount at the bottom of this comment So what is Incognito for Slack all about? That’s easy! Our passion is helping you... 🗣️ Encourage open and honest feedback ⚖️ Give an equal voice to all team members 🔦 Spotlight common issues quickly How do we do that? Through anonymous messages and polls directly in Slack, empowering your team to be honest with leadership. “Okay, but how important is that really?” Very important! Salesforce tells us that employees who feel their voice is heard are 4.6x more likely to feel empowered to perform their best work (You can read more from my blog post here) “Why can’t I just ask my team to be honest with me?” Honest face-to-face feedback is fantastic if you can get it, but you can’t always expect it. Power imbalance, risk vs reward, and general shyness may be standing in the way. “Is it really as easy as installing a Slack app?” I’ll let YOOBIC CEO Fabrice Haiat answer this one: “Our team picked it up quickly, we received 35 questions for our founder townhall in the first week! Getting anonymous questions in a tool we use daily makes it very convenient.” Okay, that’s enough from me, I want to hear from you! Let me know what you think, post your questions and feedback below and I’ll be sure to reply. 🎁 Product Hunt Special Discount Simply email me at matt@incognitoforslack.com, share the main use case(s) you’re interested in and I’ll give you 50% off the standard plan for 6 months. It’s discounts for you and insights for me!

It's a lot of fun and helpful for those who can't honestly share their opinions. Congrats and good luck!
Matthew Brooks
Thanks @gogita_gevorgyan! Fun and helpful is a great combo 😁
Benoit Chambon
Smart idea :)
Matthew Brooks
Thank you @benoit_chambon, I appreciate that 😄
Wilson Bright
Could please share how anonymity is maintained here? Is it an abstraction of identity while taking a poll in Slack?
Matthew Brooks
Absolutely @wilsonbright! When someone submits an anonymous message to Incognito for Slack using /incognito we strip out their name and replace it with an animal alias such as "Anonymous Sea Turtle" and then post that message in the private leadership channel. When someone answers an Incognito for Slack poll we simply keep track of their vote internally and show the total votes to the app admins, we share no identifier in that case. Let me know if that clears it up!
Wilson Bright
@matthew_brooks1 thanks for sharing. Would that mean it is not anonmous to the app and Slack?
Matthew Brooks
@wilsonbright that is correct. Incognito for Slack knows who you are so we can keep track of the animal aliases and allow for replies as well (if the submitter allows it). But we make it very clear in the bot's introduction message "We will never share your real name without your permission unless legally obligated."
Raunak Dembla
Cool. Haven't tried it but like the idea. Pre Covid, we used to do questions on chits of paper. Looks interesting. Cheers!
Matthew Brooks
Thanks, @raunak_dembla! I think the main benefit over paper questions is that someone could submit 5 similar questions themselves to make a topic seem more urgent than it is. With absolute anonymity you're never sure how many people submitted questions. With anonymous aliases you don't know who the submitters are but you do know how many of them are there, and how many repeated questions you're getting.
Raunak Dembla
@matthew_brooks1 Cool stuff, will definitely try this out as our team grows. We're a small team now, a google meet is all we need. All the best for the product though! :D
Guillaume Escolano
Incognito is a very powerful Slack add-on. It can help you to get honest feedback or prepare a meeting with anonymous questions. Moreover, it's so easy to use! Well done, it should be part of the Slack featured apps!
Matthew Brooks
Thanks, @guillaume_es for the kind words! I've been lucky enough to be featured as "New & Noteworthy" and a "Brilliant Bot" by Slack but I've been wistfully thinking about the "Working from home" category as well
Vital Isaac
We've been using it for a while now and it's become a habit already to send some questions before and during any townhall. We've definitely seen an increase in the number of questions sent during these events, which is great!
Matthew Brooks
Awesome @vital_isaac, thanks for sharing your experience. 🙏 I think it's awesome that people feel more comfortable asking questions. It helps them get heard and it helps leadership understand the concerns of the team, so it's a win-win!
