It's nice to have a privacy-first social network... if you don't have any friends, since nobody will ever use anything except facebook (or local networks like VK and Odnoklassniki in Russia). So what's the point of this site?

@unnanego It's not just about the social network feature, FB buys many companies and it's nice to have alternatives. Not all product types need a network of many users.

@george_platon1 @kaioelfke Very true. I got my fb account hacked in the summer of 2020 and lost access to my fb profile and several business pages. Still waiting for them to verify the id they requested!!!

@george_platon1 @kaioelfke @philip_home Yes, sometimes we only realize how dependent we are when it's already too late. I don't use any social login for exactly this reason. There's password managers.

These alternatives are pretty useless. And alternative to FB Events with 5 Places/20 Events on it? Its not really an alternative. All the alternatives are kinda abandoned services or not close to be an alternative (in terms of design/development/userbase). Its hard to get alternatives for every country in the world i think. So it would be helpful to have a kind of sense of where the alternatives or the data in general are coming from (i know crowdsourced via airtable)

@maybach Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you that it's not enough. It's the alternatives I found so far. People already submitted more. But you need to start somewhere. Meetup and Eventbrite have more events, but aren't privacy-friendly so I excluded them for now. Maybe, I could make a public copy as Google Sheet or Airtable and not just the site with the add button. What do you think?
