Squads

Hi! I’m the co-founder and ceo of squads. Last summer I posted a joke video on tiktok that went viral and accidentally got me 80k followers overnight. I’m really not a talented video maker, but this random occurrence connected me with tons of amazing creators who quickly became my friends. I’ve been involved in the crypto space for a while (I live in Puerto Rico) so I asked creators what they thought of web3 and they said that most companies seemed like money-grabs instead of focusing on how they could better connect with their fans. I brainstormed with my cofounder @mikethegaron about this and we dreamed up a world in which creators could monetize their communities and fans could get rewarded for supporting creators. Our launch plan includes three phases: - product/market fit (validating the consumer app experience and app economics) - community participation (introducing rough consensus on decision-making, empowering community leaders) - community ownership (moving squad coins onto $MATIC to enable decentralized ownership and community governance) We are very much still in the first phase so we’d love your support and feedback through this journey. Squads coins are like NFTs in a fan club. They give fans access to their favorite creators which is cool in and of itself - it reminds me of the early days of Twitter and Clubhouse where a few of us mere mortals could connect with influencers we might not meet otherwise. The thing that really makes it interesting, though, is that the value of your portfolio grows as your creators’ following does. If I know anything about gen Z, it’s that they love to brag about how well their “portfolios” are doing. Squads is still very early but in the ~2 weeks I've been using it it's been gratifying to see my investments in the founders, Faith Ordway, Alejandro Rosario, and @dayna appreciate close to 20%.

Very cool concept, and much need. Can't wait to try it out, will the app alos allow creators to connect with companies looking at enhancing their brand too?

One of the smoothest UXs in consumer web3. It's really refreshing to see creators *actually* engaging with their fans.
