Flying Toasters running natively on a current Mac with no ROM file hunting is exactly the kind of pointless-but-delightful project that made screensavers fun in the first place. Genuinely nostalgic without feeling like a gimmick demo.
What needs improvement
Only a handful of the original After Dark modules are ported so far - would love to see the module list grow, especially the ones people actually remember like the flying toasters' cousin modules and the aquarium ones.
Chris Messina commenting on this made me look twice - that's a strong signal for a screensaver app. left a review above, would be curious if there's any interest in a community module pack so people could contribute ports of the modules that aren't in yet.

This is such a nostalgic idea Which After Dark screensaver are you most excited to bring back?

Just set this up as my actual Mac screensaver and it’s surprisingly fun. Seeing those classic After Dark screensavers running again feels like a tiny piece of old-school Mac brought back to life.
A touch of nostalgia for you just in time for a new OS!
Love the design of the icon too — from The Iconfactory!
