A personal, secure meeting assistant that lives in your MacBook's notch. Listens to your meeting · suggests what to say · invisible on screen share · can run 100% on your Mac

@sudhxan - When it's running at 100% on the Mac, how far behind live is the transcript on an M1 or M2? The suggestion only helps if it shows up before the other person stops waiting for a answer.
@lancelot_d_souza1 Great question, and you're right that timing is everything here.
speech recognition hears audio in 160 ms slices and looks 160 ms ahead, so words appear about a third of a second after they're spoken. That's on our M5 Pro test Mac. Recognition runs on the Mac's Neural Engine, which every M1 and M2 has. The AI writes on a different part of the chip (the GPU), so the transcript keeps up even while an answer is being written.
honestly for m1,m2, we haven't published measured numbers yet. The pause detection is the same on every Mac. The part that's slower on older chips is the AI itself: answers write out more slowly, and the first word can take a bit longer. Macs with less than 24 GB of memory automatically get Qwen3.5 4B, our fastest model, to keep this quick.
The on-device option is compelling, especially for meetings where privacy matters. I noticed the FAQ says the transcript clears when you quit. Is there a way to export it or save a recap before then?
@nitinhayaran Thanks! Privacy is exactly why it works this way: Assist never writes your meeting to disk, so there's nothing to export yet. You can still keep a recap today:
Before you quit, hit recap. Stopping Listen doesn't clear anything, so you can do this after the call ends.
Click the copy icon at the top right of the Recap card and paste it wherever you keep notes. Every card has the copy button, and you can also select and copy individual transcript lines.
Saving the recap is in my roadmap. Will get back to you with an update once that’s there. Thanks again for the interest!
