Astoundingly good resource. I never thought I'd want to hear about somebody's experience of opening a dozen bank accounts, but Built for Mars made it an absolute joy. It has nailed the concept of case studies: they're entertaining, they're informative, they're useful...
I'd say it's a must-read for anybody involved in developing products in any way, shape or form. You'll learn a new way of thinking and some core principles in the best way possible - by seeing them applied to real life products.
I'd go so far as to say that Built for Mars is a must-read for anybody with an even remotely curious mind. Do you use products? Do you want to understand why the experience of one product makes you want to rip your hair out and the experience of another product makes you want to rave to all your friends and family how smoothly it works? This is your ticket.
The thinking behind the case studies is quite clearly the product of thousands of hours of studying and working on UX. Built for Mars conveys that expertise in really succinct messages, which takes true talent. The next case study could be about buying wheelie bins for all I care and it's safe to say that I'd still hang on every word.
