chalk teaches by showing you. On your Mac, hold ⌘⌥ and ask about anything on your screen: chalk answers out loud, marks the real button, and walks you through one step at a time. Or say what you want to learn, and it draws you a board, plans a course of classes you do (not just read), or takes you through a whole project in stages. It writes up your lectures against your slides, too. Boards and courses work in any browser. Free to start.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Seyi. My friend @segun0x and I built chalk.
I've studied across multiple continents, in different classrooms with different ways of teaching. Wherever I was, learning came down to the same thing: finding a way to make studying feel less overwhelming. So I started building websites for myself and my friends, each one made from our own study material. They really helped, but every new course meant building one again from the start, over and over, and that got stressful. So Segun and I built an engine that does it for anyone. That's chalk.
chalk comes in two parts:
Board: learning, in any browser (or in the app).
• Say what you want to learn and chalk draws you a board: what it is, the words you'll need, then a picture it walks you through, out loud.
• The pictures aren't drawings, they're worked out: a heart that beats, circuits you can switch, code that runs, chemical equations you can balance. Over 80 of them, from biology to music to code.
• Or it plans a course of classes you do, not just read.
• Bring your semester: drop in your slides and past papers, and the course is built from them, with the pages cited.
• Record a class and it writes it up against your slides, translated if it isn't in your language.
Spatial: help on your Mac, in whatever app you're in.
• Hold ⌘⌥ and ask about anything on your screen. chalk answers out loud, puts a mark on the real button, and waits while you do each step.
• Want to make something? It plans the project in stages, teaches you the first, then hands you the wheel.
Your first week is completely free, no card needed. When it ends, pick a plan to keep going, and everything you made stays yours. Board is $10 a month. Board + Spatial is $25 a month, or $20 a month if you pay yearly, and students and teachers get it for $18 (prove it with your school email).
chalk is open to everyone today at trychalk.tech. Board works in any browser. Spatial needs the Mac app, on an Apple silicon Mac (macOS 14 or later).
One honest note: the Mac app isn't notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it, macOS will ask you to allow it. It takes a minute, and trychalk.tech/download shows you exactly where to click.
We'd love your feedback: what would you learn first, and where did chalk get in your way?
@segun0x @theboygenius This is really good. Well done!
@segun0x @ledear Thank you so much Lydia!
@theboygenius @ledear Thank you Lydia!
I’d try this to finally learn Figma. If I click the wrong thing, can chalk help me get back on track?
@alicia_verrando Yes!
That's exactly what it's for! Open Figma, hold ⌘⌥ (Cmd+Option) and ask something like "how do I make a frame?". chalk looks at your screen and points at each step.
After each click, tap ⌘⌥ and chalk looks again (More than often you won't need to as chalk automatically looks again after each step). If you clicked the wrong thing and a different menu or panel opened, chalk works from what's on your screen now and points you back onto the right path. It doesn't carry on as if nothing happened.
You can also hold ⌘⌥ and just say "I clicked the wrong thing" or "where am I?". chalk reads your screen and gets you back on track. It knows Figma's help pages too, so it can find things buried deep in menus.
This all runs in the chalk Mac app. Would love to hear how your first Figma session goes!
I like the idea @theboygenius, but aren't you competing in a field owned by AI-browsers like Dia and Atlas?
@knolladrian Fair question! Dia and Atlas are browsers built to help you get things done on the web. chalk is built to teach.
A few differences:
It works across your whole Mac, not just one browser's tabs: Figma, VS Code, Excel, the PDF of your lecture notes. You keep the browser you already use.
It points instead of chatting in a sidebar. chalk shows you the exact button on your screen and walks you there one step at a time, so next time you know where it is yourself.
The answer stays. Ask chalk to explain something and it draws a board you can keep, share and come back to. Upload your notes and it builds you a whole course.
AI browsers help you finish the task. chalk makes sure you could do it again tomorrow without anyone's help.
Could I drop in a chapter from a book,and get a course out of it?
