Chalked prepares the reply you would actually send from the thread on screen, your live calendar and sourced facts you have accepted before. Press Tab to insert it, hold fn to revise it, then review and send yourself.

I built this because I kept working out the same reply twice. The hard part of a reply was never the phrasing. It's the facts — is Tuesday actually free, what budget did we approve, who still owes a sign-off, what did we agree in the other thread. I'd have the conversation open and go digging through Calendar and three other threads to answer a two-line message. So Chalked prepares the reply from what's actually true: the thread on screen, the live calendar, and facts I've accepted before, each one carrying its source. Tab inserts it. If it's not what I want, I hold fn and say what should change. I still read it and I still press send — nothing sends itself, and I'd leave the product before changing that. A few things I'd rather say up front than be caught on: The reply is generated on the Mac with Apple's on-device model, which is why the conversation it reads never leaves the machine. It also means it needs Apple silicon with the system model available. Plain dictation is different — that text goes to our server and a named model provider for cleanup, and isn't retained. The beta is narrow on purpose: Messages, and Gmail in Safari or Chrome. Each new surface has to pass a measured capture-and-insertion matrix before we turn it on, because a reply inserted into the wrong thread is worse than no reply at all. Where Chalked isn't confident, it abstains. "Free while we're in beta" means billing genuinely isn't built yet. What I want from today: open a real conversation and tell me when the suggestion is wrong — wrong fact, wrong tone, wrong thread. That's the feedback that decides what this becomes.

what sold me is that it stays in the thread you already have open instead of routing you to a separate compose window. it pulls in what you actually agreed to and your calendar so the drafted reply reflects reality instead of generic pleasantries, and Tab just drops it in - review and send is still on you, which is the right amount of control to keep.

same thing I asked in the comments - it's not clear whether the fn-hold voice revision is processed on-device or sent off somewhere, and given it's pulling in calendar data and past commitments in that same pass, that distinction matters more here than in a typical dictation tool. would want that spelled out clearly before trusting it with sensitive threads.

Superhuman makes the inbox itself faster to move through, but it's still asking you to write the reply. Chalked is solving a narrower problem one level up - actually drafting the reply from context you already have, wherever that conversation lives, not just speeding up the mailbox around it.
