I am Carlos, iOS Engineer at CodeSandbox and creator of play.js, a Node.js IDE for iOS that became part of the CodeSandbox family one year ago.
During this year we have been working hard on CodeSandbox Projects, a platform where creators can access their work anywhere without sacrificing the power of a full development environment. Today I am proud to announce the evolution of play.js into CodeSandbox for iOS and its full integration with CodeSandbox Projects.
CodeSandbox for iOS will continue supporting sandboxes development for fast prototyping but now you will also be able to develop projects of any size while also taking advantage of the unique development workflows that CodeSandbox Projects provides (quick branching and PR creation, pre-configured environments, etc).
This is just the beginning for us. As Projects grow, the toolset on iOS will continue to grow as well and we want to learn from you! Join our beta and tell us how you are using this app and what you would like to see in your own developer journeys.

I sometimes worry that the next generation of programmers gets lost because the modern computing environment you grow up in (iPhone & iPad) is nothing like using a clunky DOS system that basically invites you to start tinkering & hacking the very first moment you use it.
This app makes web development on mobile devices not just feasible but even, dare I say, enjoyable. The attention to detail is incredible! 💯
CodeSandbox is an awesome tool for web dev! And the iPad app looks great. @carlostify are you planning to make it available for M1 Macs as well in the future?
@saamerm why not?! I've been using the app as a macOS app during development and it works great, we would need to smooth some rough edges but it would be totally feasible.
Congrats on the launch guys! i really looking forward to use this on my ipad pro. I think that you made a great decision to bring out an ios version because developing on tablets should really be more a standard these days. Often i go with the train my macbook pro is a little bit heavy to carry with me. I definitely going to download it and try it.
