.com vs. Not .com

Thank you for stopping by! This website was inspired by Paul Graham's original essay "Change Your Name" (https://paulgraham.com/name.html) which made the argument for changing your startup's name in order to get the .COM domain. I thought it'd be interesting to explore what domains YC companies get, and how this has changed over time (per batch) to see if they've been following PG's advice. Perhaps most interestingly is the proliferation of the .AI domain taking over 13% of YC companies, and in most recent batches over 27% of companies. This was also an opportunity for me to learn how to build and host a website, Claude 3.5 Sonnet guided me through it (this is my first website built from 'scratch') using the double.bot extension in VS Code. I'd welcome anyone to try to build their own websites, genuinely super easy (just make sure to ask Claude to make it compatible with mobile)! :)
