The pain: writing automated UI tests is a pain, and still only catches a handful of issues. Visual issues (layout changes) are especially hard to instrument detection for—but ultimately valuable once you do.
The product: @ewjordan and I built this because I wanted it at work to catch ALL the visual bugs that can show up and linger on popular pages that we developers don't visit daily (how often do you visit and test your Forgot Password page?). We wanted it to be zero setup, no long signup process, etc. Just URLs, email, uhoh, here's your changes.
DropBox, Google, StackOverflow have all implemented in-house versions of this. Google consumer surveys team calls visual diff detection "The Secret to Continuous Safe Deployment".
Would love your feedback—give it a shot if you run a live site (especially if you use Heroku, it's a zero-signup one-liner and you'll get emails of your site changes each deploy).
We got 46 signups during the event, and the advice from the YC founders and partners there (especially @millisecond) was insanely awesome. Especially since I'm using this for work, I'll continue developing it based on user needs.
