Dissenter is a Chromium-based browser forked from Brave. It removes additional Google telemetry Brave hasn’t yet, along with the friendly-only-to-certain-advertisers BAT “utility token”. In its place Gab is adding additional measures against censorship, Chinese-style “social currency” oppression, unpersoning attacks, and literal psychological manipulation by big tech outlets who’ve admitted to doing these things in the press. Dissenter is about you having the power to speak your mind, use the extensions you want, see the content you want, and support the creators you want. Open debate is required as a prerequisite to a free and educated society, and more and more today open debate is being quashed by Commercial and political interests who believe they are somehow better positioned to judge what information you should have access to, or be allowed to express, than you are. Dissenter exists to keep them from doing it. And it happens to work pretty well as web browsers go besides.
Pairs nicely with the services provided by Epik (Anonymize VPN, Forever Domains).
Brave was a great concept and product, but now a new steward is better positioned to realize the original goals.
Everyone needs to use it. You will have absolutely no regrets.
New browser developed by Gab in response to internet giants deciding they were our moral guardians and banning everything they don't like for personal reasons.
Long, long-time Firefox user, switched to Dissenter a few weeks ago because FF discontinued the Dissenter extension. I'm very pleased w/ the switch.
All you need to know is to get it. It doesn't matter who you are, it's not catered to anyone. It's a platform that you want to get started on as it won't just turn around one day and decide you're not allowed to exist. Its TOS is based on US law, not the whims of an out of touch and too powerful CEO.
