Hi Product Hunt! I'm Louis, a 21-year-old computer science student from Germany. I built Earnote because I could never keep up taking notes in lectures – and every tool I found uploaded my recordings and wanted a monthly subscription. As a student I didn't want either. How it works: put your phone on the table and record (or share a voice memo, an interview or a lecture video to the app). Earnote transcribes it with Whisper right on the device and writes a note: summary, the tasks and deadlines that were actually mentioned, flashcards to quiz yourself and a PDF study sheet. On iPhone 15 Pro and later even the note is written on the phone, so it works in airplane mode. No account, no ads, no subscription. Everything you need is free; there's an optional one-time Pro on iPhone/iPad (speaker detection, asking questions about a note, translation). The Mac app is free and open source (MIT). I like that the transcription stays on the device and there's no account. I'm on Android though. Whisper runs fine on phones these days, so is an Android version something you'd look at, or does the on-device note writing depend on Apple's own models?

what i always miss is the out loud correction, i say a wrong date then fix it a sentence later and notes never catch which one i meant
