Hey Sayoni, Kshitiz, and the Gist AI team! 🎉
First off, congrats on the Product Hunt launch! That's a big step, and it's totally okay to be a mix of thrilled and nervous. Been there, felt that!
Now, about Gist AI. I'm vibing with the problem you're solving. Summarization tools can be a hit or miss, and you've nailed the issues most of us face. The "Read More" feature? Genius! It's like having a 'skip intro' button but for content. 🤯
The unlimited, unrestricted summaries are a big win, especially for those of us who devour content like it's our job (because sometimes, it is). And let's not forget the language barrier you're smashing with the 30+ language translations. 🌍
Kshitiz, your excitement about summarizing long PDFs for free is contagious. I mean, who wouldn't want that? 📚
A couple of things to ponder:
How does Gist AI handle super technical or niche content?
Any plans for mobile support?
Your tool sounds like a game-changer, and I'm stoked to see how it evolves. Keep crushing it, and best of luck! 🚀
Cheers! 🥂
Use caution when installing this Chrome plugin. It is currently asking for access to read and write all data on all websites. I am sure the developers have the best intention, but how can I trust that their deployment process is not hacked at some point? The hackers would then have access to all the information I am entering into websites.
Why not ask for access to the webpage after I ask for a summary?
Thank you for your concern about the permissions. Our extension uses "content_scripts" permission for all URLs to provide real-time functionality across all websites. This is a very common practice for Chrome extensions which do not use a popup but display a new window on the current website. However, it's technically possible to limit this, although it would require users to manually activate the extension each time they visit a new site, affecting ease of use. We're committed to security and are exploring ways to balance functionality with minimal permissions.
Congrats on the launch 🔥! The experience is awesome, one click to get a summary is just awesome.
A possible improvement for the future could be to let the user decide of the level of details he wants. Or maybe have a new button that the user can click in order to have a "longer" summary.
Also I wonder how you managed to make the product completely free. Will it remain this way or do you have plans to implement a subscription or one time payment model ?
Congrats again for the launch 🚀

Congratulations to the team!
Now long YouTube videos can be easily summarized.
This will be helpful to content creators and social media managers, as well as for content repurposing.
A hearty congratulations to @sayoni_dutta_roy + @kshitizkr and the entire team on launching Gist AI!
The tool seems to be a beacon for avid readers and content consumers, simplifying (tons of!) information into digestible summaries.
Q: How does Gist AI plan to carve out its unique niche and stand out in the sector?
Great job on creating Gist AI @kshitizkr!
As someone who frequently conducts research and needs to digest large amounts of information, Gist AI seems incredibly useful.
Keep up the great work!
This looks great! I just checked a YouTube video, it gave me a quick gist of it which was meaningful indeed. Exactly what I needed. Congrats on the launch!😊🙌
This is actually fantastic AI tool that I'll even personally used instead of mindlessly upvote for the sake of upvote.
One of the best in its class for its niche in summarizing without restriction parameters. Well done Gist AI team!
Good luck and all the best for your launch!
I came to know about this product while searching for chrome plugin that can help summarise the pdf/text file. I instantly jumped out to check it. The product worked flawlessly and helped me achieve what I wanted with some tweaking and adjustments in the prompt.
Its a good product to use especially if you want to extract the summary and responses based on your local files.
My best wishes are with the maker Sayoni for a fruitful future.
I've just tried your extension, and it's awesome!
Having different apps for all these tasks made it such a problem to switch from one to another.
My question to you is:
1/ Is there a way to get a summary of a YouTube video if it doesn't have captions?
2/ Does it support other languages besides English?
