As the builders of Liffery, we had the privilege of using Liffery with our Families this xmas when everything was still a little shakey... but it worked really well. Actually knowing what to get my sister this year was nice... I know she is still using the gift I bought as she expressed interest! But.. it was still a surprise to her which was nice :)
Really great app for those of use who don't like paid advertising with every scroll! The economy is not at its best and many of us have a hard time deciding what to buy lately. I'm wondering, do you think this mindset would go on even after this economy has improved?
Lastly, can I decide what types of ads I want to see? For example, if I want to consider different options for a chair, I'm not against seeing 10 ads bundled in a carrousel with different chair models and offers. What I don't like is passively seeing ads when I don't want to see them.

Firstly, I think people will always need somewhere to consider their choices. It just happens to be that right now the economy is not amazing which makes the use case for Liffery very strong as you mentioned. However, when times are good in the economy that will not reduce the choice we have on offer. Being able to just take a minute to think, will always be needed for most people (myself included). Of course, Liffery is there for many aspects of a research/purchase journey... from coordinating family wish lists, to trip planning to even deciding on which furniture to get for your new apartment with your partner.
Secondly, all I can reveal about one of the next big releases on Liffery regarding ads... you will be able to target ads instead of ads targeting you.
That being said, I can assure you 1 thing. There will NEVER be ads that will be (in your words) passively shown. You will never scroll down your own channel and then suddenly see some random advert. Ads are nice... but only when they are asked for... and that, is where we are heading with Liffery.
BTW: If you have any ideas that you would like to see us build into Liffery, search for a public channel "your ideas for Liffery"... we are using the Decision Maker with our fans to help choose what to build next. We would love your input!
One centralised place for all of your planning and researching, this can be used for planning trips, deciding what couch to buy, deciding on what gift to purchase for the people you love, registry app, recipe saver, pick a baby name, what book to read next, the list can go on.

This is super cool, like a Product Hunt but for things! It would be cool to have 'hunters' that review their favourite products. For instance, I need a new set of headphones and would love to just go to a tech profile and see their reviews on different headphones since I don't have the time to do that.

Nicely spotted @highking :) We have not even talked about the recommendation system yet inside of Liffery! It's super helpful... usually I see ads online but they are not often relatable to me, sometimes I share them to Liffery as a recommendation (a lot of the time to Janine :D )
