MacDupl turns the Mac apps you already use into separate copies, each with its own login, data and Dock icon. Work and personal side by side, no logging out. New in 0.2.0: one window for every copy, one-click updates that keep logins, and a menu bar panel.

Hi Product Hunt 👋
I launched MacDupl here in August. It makes a real second copy of a Mac app, with its own login, data and Dock icon, so you can keep work and personal (or Client A and Client B) signed in side by side instead of logging out and back in.
0.2.0 is the first big redesign since then:
One window for everything. A sidebar with All, Running and Updates, your workspaces, search, and a grid or sortable list. Select an instance and every setting is in a panel on the right.
Update every copy in one click. When an app updates, a banner names the copies still on the old version and updates them together. Logins kept.
A clearer New Instance sheet. See how the new Dock icon looks next to the original before you create it.
A menu bar panel. Launch or stop any instance without opening the window.
Act on several at once. Launch, stop, move, rebuild or delete a selection.
How it works: each copy is an APFS copy-on-write clone, so the app itself takes almost no extra disk, and builds in about 2 seconds. Its data lives in its own folder, so logins, cookies and settings stay apart. MacDupl itself collects nothing; its only network calls are license checks and updates.
To be upfront about the limits: most Mac App Store apps can't be copied (for Slack, Telegram or Zoom, use the vendor's own download instead). Apple's own apps can't be copied by any tool. And it separates app data and logins; it's not a security sandbox or a VM. The full list is at macdupl.app/compatibility.
$29 one-time for 1 Mac, or Team licenses for 3 or 5 Macs. 3-day free trial, no account or card needed. macOS 13+, Apple Silicon and Intel.
Which app do you wish you could run twice? I read every comment, and app requests are how the compatibility list grows.
