macOS (previously Mac OS X and later OS X) is a series of proprietary graphical operating systems developed and marketed by Apple Inc. since 2001. It is the primary operating system for Apple's Mac computers. Within the market of desktop, laptop and home computers, and by web usage, it is the second most widely used desktop OS, after Microsoft Windows.

I use macOS every day for both work and personal projects, and it’s been a consistently smooth experience. The interface feels clean and intuitive, which helps me stay focused whether I’m designing, writing, or managing files. I appreciate how seamlessly it integrates with my other Apple devices, especially for tasks like AirDrop and shared notes. Updates are usually stable, and the built-in apps cover most of what I need. Sometimes I run into compatibility issues with certain software, but overall, macOS feels reliable and polished. It strikes a good balance between performance and simplicity.

I actually started building Noctiluca because I wanted to get away from macOS. But along the way, I developed a deep appreciation for macOS's API design. It greatly influenced the design of both Noctiluca and the Sirius protocol, and it helped me grow as a software engineer. ...That said, I still can't forgive the fact that HIToolbox's input source switching still doesn't work properly to this day! XD
