The AI co-author working from pages you've already written instead of a blank prompt makes a real difference, drafts come back sounding like your own voice instead of generic chat filler. The diff-based review for every edit is the part I trust most, nothing gets silently rewritten.
What needs improvement
Would like to see the AI learn from which edits I reject over time instead of showing the same suggestion mix every chapter, the maker mentioned this is being considered which is good to hear.
vs Alternatives
Compared it against just using a chat AI in a separate tab and pasting chapters back and forth. Pinery skips that whole copy-paste loop and keeps the manuscript, the AI, and the export in one place, plus the files stay plain Markdown so I'm not locked into their format.
