Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Mohammed, an Android developer from Algeria, and this is PlugBrain.
How it started: my son was having difficulties at school, especially with math, and was spending far too much time on his tablet. I couldn't find an app that fit, so I built one: before a distracting app opens, you solve a quick math problem.
Then I installed it on my own phone, and that's when I realized it wasn't only for kids. 😅
How it works 🔒 You pick the apps that steal your time, Opening one shows a math problem first, like 7 × 8 or 38 − 15 📈 The more you use those apps, the harder the math gets 🌿 Stay away for a while and it gets easier again
Most of the time, that short pause is enough to put the phone down. And when it isn't, you've at least done some mental math.
What it doesn't do: no ads, no tracking, no account. It doesn't even have internet permission, so your usage data can't leave your phone. It's free and open source (GPL-3.0) and is on Google Play, F-Droid and IzzyOnDroid.
What's new in 1.6: a full redesign, a step-by-step onboarding that explains every permission before you grant it, and 11 languages, thanks to contributors from all over the world. Big thanks to Travis for the new icon and Hichem Dahaoui for the UI redesign.
It's Android only for now.
