Poolside FM was founded by serial entrepreneur Marty Bell in 2014 when he had the idea of making a music player for the fun synth-forward pop music he was listening to.
Working together with several other friends, the passion project unexpectedly went viral and was embraced by many fans, leading the creators to continue working on Poolside FM intermittently over the years, eventually building it into an app for iOS.
Poolside FM is a modern take on a classic radio station - “Visitors can cycle through 70 different short video clips from the 80s and listen to a playlist of songs collected from Soundcloud.“
More than just a music player for songs from Soundcloud, Poolside FM's true draw is its vibe - as founder Marty Bell states, it's “a kind of virtual vacation to lift my spirits.“
The music, combined with its playful retro aesthetic, has built up quite the following for Poolside FM.
Poolside FM is a web radio service that plays feel good synthy pop music and is accompanied by a 80's/90's retro-inspired aesthetic. Joyfully nostalgic, Poolside FM is a pure passion project meant to bring happy summer vibes to its many fans and listeners.
