Hi Product Hunt 👋
I am a backend engineer, and I built Proto.Engineer.
When I see a new problem, I do not try to remember a solution. I look at how the problem works, from first principles. That way of looking stays useful even when the details change.
Most learning sites teach the opposite. You get a named problem, you read the answer, and you move on. Then real work gives you an incident with no name, and you are stuck.
So every lesson on Proto.Engineer starts with the problem. We build the mechanism step by step, and we give it a name only at the end.
What you get:
• 13 courses: DSA, low-level design, backend (3 courses), operating systems, computer networks, DBMS, system design practice, data engineering, and more
• 390 written lessons, all free to read with an account
• Comics, videos, revision and practice problems on many courses
• Proto Pair: you and a friend solve the same problem every day for 14 days
• System design practice built from real engineering write-ups
What we do not do: we do not promise jobs, and we do not make up numbers or testimonials.
It is for students and engineers who get stuck on a new problem, a design round, or their first change request in a large codebase.
I would like your honest feedback, especially on one thing: does the "problem first, name last" way of teaching work for you? Tell me which lesson felt clear and which one did not.
Thank you for reading.
