Shared Board Game Timer

My gaming group enjoys using turn timers — we find they reduce analysis paralysis and generally make games more enjoyable. But none of the apps we tried had all the features we wanted. So, I made my own game timer app, calling it the Shared Game Timer. I'll mention here briefly the main things that the SGT has that (I think) no other game timer has! I would LOVE to get some feedback and, even better, feature suggestions! Together, we can make the best board game timer out there! ⭐ Immediate use: Works in any browser, no sign-up or download required. ⭐ Device Synchronization: SGT synchronizes across any number of devices, so each player can have a phone within easy reach. ⭐ Analysis Paralysis Alert: Optional feature to alert players at certain times into their turns; for example, after 5 minutes, then again every 2 minutes after that. ⭐ Presentation Mode + Remote Controls: Activate presentation mode and place the screen off-table, then use Bluetooth remotes ($5 on Amazon) to control the timer ➡ fewer screens around the gaming table! ⭐ Admin Timer: Dedicated timer for admin tasks, tracking time when it isn't a particular player's turn (say during an auction or end-of-round cleanup.) 🌐 Works great for Online Gaming e.g. on Tabletopia or Tabletop Simulator 🌐 Chrome Extension for integration with Tabletopia. 🌐 Money and VP Tracker: replace cumbersome token tracking in online games with in-app transactions.

I am fortunate enough to have been able to play test this during development, and cannot emphasise enough the value it has added to our gaming. Play has become much more fluent, and players seem happier to release themselves from AP when they realise how long others have been patiently waiting. I have really enjoyed having the active turn and timer displayed on a chosen device/screen throughout the game, and being able to review and revisit different stats. Lots of other 'gifts' to discover once you've settled into the basics, too. Great stuff!

So, I was part of the gaming group that reviewed the 'Shared Board Game Timer' as Gustav developed it. It's strange but exciting to see how an idea Gustav had has manifested into a useful and fun gaming device, that has not only changed our shared gaming experience for the better; but has also integrated seamlessly into our gaming set up as a much used gaming companion. I really like how the active timer helps keep us all ticking along, reducing analysis paralysis all round. And also helps us keep tabs on whose turn it is, as well as manage our gaming admin effectively. There is fun to be had in how the timer can be programmed and used as a timer. What I also love is how it works wonderfully with online board gaming across all smart devices - with the pandemic, our gaming group (I am sure like many others) really got into gaming on Tabletopia. And the app allows us to not only use the active timer but also to track and carry out those 'fidgety' in game admin (i.e. tallying resources and VPs). No more, 'Did I take money from the bank? I can't remember?!' You can use the customisable app to keep on top of all your game transactions and review things if you are not sure. Magic!! Honestly we don't game in person or online without the shared board game timer!
