What's great
One shortcut that fixes grammar/spelling in place, in any app, instead of a separate tool with its own text box you have to copy into. Since it runs on the on-device Apple Intelligence model, nothing you select leaves the machine - no API key, no per-word pricing. The consistency is the real win: macOS spellcheck is fine in some apps and useless in others (Slack especially), Tidy behaves the same everywhere.
What needs improvement
Would love more transparency on the de-slop shortcut specifically - it's not always obvious what makes it decide a sentence "reads like AI" versus just formal writing. Some visibility into what it's flagging before it rewrites would help build trust in that one.
vs Alternatives
GrammarlyGrammarly is the obvious comparison, but it wants your text sent to their servers and nags you with a browser extension everywhere. Tidy is a keyboard shortcut baked into macOS itself - nothing leaves the machine, no account, no subscription. Less polished suggestions UI, but for a quick in-place fix that's not what I need.

I built this for myself. I was editing about two thirds of the Slack messages I sent, always for the same reason: accidental caps on, words mispelled like operator, restaurant or recommendations. macOS checks spelling well in some apps and badly in others. In Slack it barely works at all, and Gmail, Docs and Notes are all inconsistent.
Tidy is one shortcut that behaves the same everywhere. Select text, press ⌃⌥⌘T, and the corrected version fixes everything in one go, in place.
The second shortcut came later. I was collaborating on documents where whole paragraphs had obviously been AI generated. Selecting the guilty paragraph and pressing ⌃⌥⌘S rewrites it, ruthlessly 'de-slopping' back to it's core truth.
The app runs on the Apple Intelligence local model built into macOS. You might have to turn it on if you haven't already (nobody has by the way). Nothing you select leaves your machine, no API keys, its free fast and local.
It needs macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence. Happy to answer anything.

@yelyzaveta_kibets It will leave the product names alone, it understands the sentences context. For example, like 'ProductHunt'. I just tried it on this sentence and it didn't remove the capitliasation of ProductHunt.
Very good idea! When do you plan to support multiple languages? I use Brazilian Portuguese on Apple Intelligence and had to switch to US English in order to proceed with the setup. Will be following your progress ;)

@steve_croce Stay local! As it fixes what you wrote for 'Tidy,' it maintains your writing style. So just write as you normally would, and it will fix it. But feel free to suggest changes if the de-slopper doesn't match your voice with it's re-write. I can add a style memory.

the de-slop shortcut is the part I want most. genuinely curious how it decides what counts as "reads like a machine wrote it" versus just formal writing - I say things like "furthermore" and "in order to" naturally, not because an LLM wrote it. does it lean more on specific tells (em dashes, "delve", listy rhythm) or overall tone?
