Mantra Meditation Timer rejects the bloated tracking of modern wellness apps. Built for self-directed practitioners, this elegant iOS app offers a distraction-free experience with zero data collection. Enjoy core Meditation timers, calming chimes, and mental or physical check-ins completely free. For established pro mantra practitioners, a small one-off payment unlocks advanced stats and deeper customisation. No subscription fatigue, just a beautifully simple tool for profound daily practice.

The Inspiration & Problem:
I have been practising Transcendental Meditation daily for over 3,700 consecutive days. After over a decade of practice I simply wanted a clean tool to support my daily practice. Instead, I found a wellness market saturated with bloated apps. The official options required intrusive personal background data, others pushed endless guided programmes, and almost all of them demanded a recurring monthly subscription just to sit in silence.
Mantra Timer was born out of pure frustration. I wanted to build a beautiful, distraction-free timer that treats practitioners with respect—meaning zero data collection and zero notifications shouting for your attention.
How the Product Evolved:
Building a software studio at a slower, "human pace" while managing a chronic illness (ME) forces you to become hyper-intentional.
Ditching the Subscription: I originally planned a standard annual subscription tier. But as the studio's anti-rental philosophy solidified, that felt hypocritical. So I completely changed direction. The core app is entirely free, and additional functionality for established practitioners is unlocked via a single, small one-off payment. Buy it once, own it forever.
I will be hanging out in the comments section and I would love to hear your feedback, your critiques, or your own stories about fighting subscription fatigue!
@codeandsea Really like the philosophy behind this. A simple, distraction-free tool with no unnecessary data collection, and a one-off payment instead of yet another subscription, feels genuinely refreshing.
@ir3ne Thanks I really appreciate your kind response. Like many people I have subscription fatigue and also I found many meditation apps to be so intrusive, and distracting from the key function, the practice of meditation.

Hey Brent! Solid app! It's looking real good and clean.
What have you decided not to include in the app as you built it? I know this question seems silly but it ties with the whole idea of mindfulness, that I think you are going for here.
Congratulations on your launch and I wish you all the best!
@matheus_paranhos1 Thanks for the message, many thanks. I really wanted to remove the noise, that you get from so many mediation apps. All I want to do is open the app and start my practice. I don't want to be distracted by messages, meditation events etc. I also wanted @Mantra Timer to be subscription free, totally private and zero tracking.

Totally love it! Can it work on my Apple Watch?
@arthur_winston3 - thank you, and today no, but I am actively working on the Apple Watch version and hope to launch some time in November, if you are interested in testing sign up to the beta list and once the first beta build is available for testing I'll let you know.
@charlie_titherley - I don't like to be tracked personally, so I need to live by this. I also prefer to speak to my users, rather than infer from data. I built @Mantra Timer primarily for myself, it became a public release, 100% usable in it's free form because when I mentioned it to fellow meditators I they told me to release it. If people chose not to use daily, that's fine. If they do I'm glad they chose to use my timer, and I like to think they will reach out and write a review if they like it or contact me directly if they find an issue. Because I don't want to generate any noise in the app I don't even prompt and ask for reviews at any point when users open and use the app. There is a link they can use if they chose to leave an App Store Review.
Thanks for your interest, do you practice a mantra-based meditation?
Sounds calm , what's the revenue model?
@easeops The app is free and 100% useable for ever in this form. There a few additional features, that people can enable for an optional one-off life time purchase at US $9.99, this unlock (Mantra+) also supports Apple Family Sharing and I also taking into consideration for different markets based on local purchasing power and give appropriate regional discounts.
As part of the launch, if Product Hunt community members want to upgrade and unlock the Mantra+ premium features, the following discount code can be redeemed. This code discounts the one-time in app purchase from US$9.99 to US$5.99.

Like the restraint! Comlexity in wellness apps often become another thing to manage. This feels much more aligned with the practice itself.
@simon_bengtsson1 Thanks, I totally agree, I believe I've tried most of the mediation timers out there and they just didn't work for me, and that's why I decided to create my own.
