Wario.Style turns any song into a Game Boy-style chiptune, right in your browser. Type a song title and it searches BitMidi for the MIDI, then synthesizes it live through four authentic chiptune channels: two pulse, one wave, one noise. No signup, no server render. Export as WAV or MIDI and share with a link that previews the track. The catalogue runs deep on classics, so throw it something timeless. Can't find it? Upload your own MIDI and hear it in 8-bit.

Just shipped a v2 beta.
Story behind it. About a month after launching this, I realised with some horror that v1 doesn't actually sound like a Game Boy. It sounds more like a SNES. Stock oscillators, broad and lush, not the real chip.
So I built v2: a proper go at the actual Game Boy sound chip (the Sharp LR35902) - real 15-bit noise, pulse duty cycles, custom wavetables. It's live now as a "v2 beta" tab next to v1.
Fair warning, it's experimental and rough in places - a bit of crunch on the noise channels, and arranging a full song onto the Game Boy's 4 voices is genuinely hard. But it sounds way closer to the handheld you remember.
Have a play and tell me which one sounds better: wario.style/v2.html
