Wayfare locks your distracting apps by default. To unlock screen time, you complete a small real-world quest — a walk, a chore, reading, anything you set. A companion creature grows as you build the habit, so putting your phone down feels like progress instead of restriction. Every other screen-time app relies on willpower or guilt, and both wear off fast. Free on iOS, no paywall on the core loop. Would love feedback, especially from anyone who's tried and abandoned a screen-time app before.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
Maker here. I built Wayfare because I'd tried basically every screen-time app that exists and none of them stuck — they all rely on either blocking you (which you disable within days) or showing you a guilt-inducing number (which doesn't actually change behavior).
The idea behind Wayfare: instead of restricting screen time, you earn it. Your apps stay locked until you complete a small real quest, and a companion creature grows as you build the habit — so it feels like a system working with you instead of a rule you're fighting.
A few things I'd love feedback on:
Does the onboarding make the core loop clear in the first couple minutes?
Is the quest variety engaging, or does it feel repetitive after a few days?
Any bugs with the app-locking mechanics — that part took the longest to get right
Happy to answer anything about the build too (Swift/SwiftUI + Supabase — ask me about the Screen Time API integration if curious).
Thanks for checking it out 🙏
