Visual web site builders always add complications and eventually you'll end up needing to write custom code on top. I prefer to start from the least technologically complicated setup, HTML and CSS, and take it from there.

We just use our own marketing site and create a blog from markdown files (.md)! Eleventy and nunjucks handle the rest, creating a static site from templates.

These days articles with titles like "What are the best products in XYZ category in 2024?" seem to work very well. There's a heavy weighting towards more recent content by Google.

No, the UI has always been terrible. I'm surprised its still going and, apparently, being pushed higher up the search listings these days to combat spam (https://www.businessinsider.com/...)

You should also consider time of day when you launch. Base this on the country where you have the largest potential customers and try to hit a time in the day when the largest amount of them will be browsing product hunt. It's probably hard to find usage numbers for product hunt but facebook usage seems to be highest mid-morning https://sproutsocial.com/insight...
