can you save me from becoming them?

I'd love to know about the worst supervisor you've ever had. Can you tell me about a terrible experience you had with them and how you wished they had handled it instead? Hoping to learn from other's mistakes. thanks!

Not sure if they are the worst but I recall two cases: One told me that "if he asks when I can do something, I must give him an answer, and not tell him that I don't know yet". That was a monument to insecurity from my point of view. The other one tried to be manipulative. The first time she asked as a favour if I could stay a little longer in the office because a task was due tomorrow 8 a.m. and she won't be able to finish it alone. I stayed. The next week, as I was saying goodbye and leaving the office she asked me why I was leaving so early. "Because I work until 6, and it is already 6 p.m." My suggestion for you to be respectful: with the others, with their time, with yourself. You are a supervisor, not a slave master. Reading "Life is a dream" by Pedro Calderon de la Barca might be helpful.

@simplytedel thank you for sharing your experience... I will definitely check out "Life is a dream" as well. If you don't mind me asking, how is your current supervisor?
