The definition
Curating means sorting through relevant online material in your niche. Then share the best you find with your audience.
This can be any type of great content. Podcasts, eBooks, YouTube videos – you name it.
Curating on social media
Success on social media means posting consistently. But that can be tough to keep up. That's where curating comes in. Privacy settings on some apps make it a lot harder to browse for high-quality content than others.
Twitter is awesome for curation.
Here, you can:
– Tag the content creator
– Attach the link to the original piece or your updated version
– Add unique insight
Content curation tools
Curation tools can make finding content to share a lot faster.
They can even deliver relevant formats straight to your inbox or dashboard.
Quuu
Add CTAs to direct readers back to your site.
Pocket

Scoop.it

elink

– Offers a chance to engage and build community.
Curating on different platforms
Did you know you can also curate content on your site, blog, or email newsletter?
Examples of formats
Here are some different form you can curate:
– Statistics (large datasets)
– Expert roundups
– Weekly email newsletter
– Tools
You can even use one content style to curate another. For example, why not film a video about a recent article you read?
Building a content curation strategy
Your strategy will be successful when you:
– Know your audience
– Add value
– Credit the source
Note:
“Aggregation” means collecting a bunch of content in one place (e.g. RSS feeds.)

Interesting topic Nika. A tangential point I've always identified as an opportunity within the YouTube space would be to aggregate video content around different subjects.
Filling the role of curation would be much easier for viewers interested in a particular subject to follow. Playlists exist but mostly the content on those is very old and could be improved by an RSS type feed that would automatically create playlists based on subject matter on a daily basis by a preselected group of content creators.
YT right now is a quagmire of content vs the algorithm which limits your ability to find new content especially when you're changing the subject of what you're looking for.

Nika, your breakdown of content curation clarifies its pivotal role in staying visible and valuable on social media, turning any platform into a hub of knowledge. It's especially insightful to differentiate between simple aggregation and the art of curation, which requires a keen eye for relevance and engagement.

Thanks for the breakdown on content curation, Nika. It's all about sifting through the best online material in your niche and sharing it with your audience. I appreciate the tips on using tools like Quuu and BuzzSumo to streamline the process.
Thanks for the insights and clarification! I was part of an online publisher in years past that first introduced me to curated articles and videos, which we accumulated and sent out to members. I've adapted that same concept into our app as well.
I second much of what you said above and how it's a useful way of getting more valuable content to your audience without having to write it / record it yourself... and, especially in arenas where the experts say it best.
Thank you for sharing!
