Yas, BUT if the product is in it's early phase you really need to be careful with the money spent on advertising. It's better if you focus on building a community and then switch on low-cost remarking programs followed by referal programs and some partnerships.
Make sure you spend money on short and sweat advertising experiments first with a goal to understand your conversion numbers. For example, we just learned our user journey when creating an account and starting to use the product isn't ideal so we are fixing that before we increase the budget.
Our CAC for free account was about $20, we think targeting USA was too expensive considering the conversion rates so we'll switch that of for now. We also learned that alternative landing pages for a perticular competitor are giving us the most conversions. All from 2 weeks of testing, $600 spent.

Paid can help a ton but it's important to marry it with good SEO practices.
What didn't work - We bought a bunch of Google paid search ads with the hope that it drives waitlist users. It did alright but we spent close to $8 per signup. Not sustainable for a Freemium product like ours.
What currently works - Built a reels-led funnel on Instagram using this exact strategy - [Not my video]. This works great for products that need to build a sustainable, scalable top of the funnel. We're getting signups for under $0.50 with this strategy. These users are also interestingly a lot more engaged once they signup.

Honestly, it depends on the industry and vertical. Paid isn't for everyone.
Yep – Mostly highly targeted keywords SEA and campaigns on Twitter.

If the product is raw, then you need to wait a while with buying advertising. But when the product has passed internal testing, you can start buying advertising in large volumes.

I'm working on a lead magnet that I'll probably send paid traffic to. It's crucial to send paid traffic to a place where they'll get something in return.
