How did you differentiate your product from similar alternatives?

It is usual for founders to create new products that are variations of existing products whether it is to focus more on a specific use case, address gaps a particular target market may be experiencing, or just to solve the same problem in a different way. You can differentiate yourself by focusing on unique attributes you have over other alternatives. These could be; - your solution being more comprehensive for a particular use case/ target audience - the quality of your features - usability of your product (more intuitive to use) Ultimately your customers knows best and they can often reveal to you additional ways you can position yourself if you ask them either through surveys or interviews: ''What do you like the most about *product*?" "Did you consider alternatives? Which websites/tools did you visit/use before buying from us?" "What made you choose *product*? What convinced you that it was a good decision?" In what ways have you positioned your product differently from similar alternatives?

In case of Namify AI, which is a business name generator, we made sure that the quality of our name suggestions are better than the others out there. Which was an obvious differentiator very central to our core offering. However, we also realized that the process of name selection doesn’t end at finding a great brand name. There were a lot of factors that went into it like inclusion of certain keywords into the name, domain availability, social username availability, whether somebody has already trademarked that name in the relevant trademark class and things like that. And we incorporated ALL of that into Namify. So what would otherwise take a user hours (if not days) and at least 5 different websites, can now be accomplished within seconds and at a single place using Namify AI. And that became our differentiator 🙌

Comprehensiveness, quality, usability, all 3! I'm building App Finder, and advanced search engine for Android apps, soon for iOS also. I have written detailed articles about the advantages over the Play Store search and other 3rd-party app search engines (like AppBrain and AppAgg): https://skyica.com/appfinder/res...
