Adjusting pricing for a SaaS product can be tricky, as it may risk alienating existing users. How do you handle price changes while keeping your customers happy? Do you grandfather in existing users, offer discounts, or communicate changes well in advance?

The best way to approach it is to grandfather in the existing subscriptions.

We grandfather existing users into their current plans and communicate any pricing changes months in advance. This gives users time to adjust, and we offer discounts or added value for those switching to new plans.

Grandfathering existing users is a smart move to minimize churn. Clear communication well in advance is key. Another idea is to position the new pricing as an upgrade with added features/value, while still allowing existing users to stay on their current plan if they prefer. Frame it as a win-win rather than a pricing hike. And consider throwing in an extra discount or bonus for long-time loyal customers to show appreciation as you roll out the changes.
