Do you test it out via paid ads campaign? Run experimental social media campaigns? Focus groups? What do you do?

You look at the way your customers communicate in the circumstances where they'd use your product/offer And then social media, ads (Google Performance Max in particular), and reviews help you refine it

I believe the stage doesn't matter. It's all about knowing the language your audience speaks and then using words and tone that resonates with them. I really like PostHog - they use fun to sell their serious SaaS!

@thebigk nice example- I will check them out. To learn the language of the audience- do you basically join the spaces they hangout in and just observe?

When it comes to defining your brand voice as an early stage startup, it's important to truly understand your target audience and what resonates with them. One way to do this is by engaging in conversations with your potential customers, whether through social media, focus groups, or other means. By listening to their feedback and observing their reactions, you can start to shape a brand voice that speaks directly to their needs and desires. Remember, authenticity is key in building a strong brand, so stay true to your company's values throughout the process. We are building a marekting AI called Contentify AI. It's free and easy to setup. Check out the "Launching soon"

I think you should first define the target audience (ideal persona) you want to target. Observe his/her/their behaviour and try to become like him/her/them. Basically, find people like these and have a convo with them to copy their patterns.

Understanding your brand voice comes with many perspectives! To start with understand why your product should be sold. Research your target audience, who they are, how they react, and what language and type of content they see. After that analyze the competitors and how they portray their brand/product in the market. Observing all this makes a guideline for tone and language for your brand. Test and refine with sample content and you should able to define your brand voice.

To define your product’s brand voice as an early-stage startup, think of your brand as a character in a story. Identify its personality traits, tone, and unique quirks. Then, test this voice through experimental social media posts and paid ads to see what resonates with your audience. Be bold and authentic - don’t be afraid to stand out. At JetSoftPro, a company where I work, we’ve seen that a distinctive, genuine voice often outperforms conventional approaches.
