Happy Monday, makers! At GeneratedPhotos, we’re thinking about launching our image generator app in late December during Christmas and New Year’s🎄 What about you? Do you plan to launch during the holiday season, or do you prefer to wait until after the holidays are completely over?

Why do you launch your app on Product Hunt? - To gain exposure and attract new clients; - To potentially connect with investors or even find a buyer for your product. During the holidays, people aren’t typically browsing Product Hunt—they’re spending time with their families. So, in my opinion, launching during that time might not be ideal. That said, I’m launching a product very soon because it’s directly related to Christmas and New Year, so it’s a bit of a unique case. But I wouldn't recommend it to any other product. (and my marketing team too)

Bad idea, you won't get much traffic.

That's what I was thinking about today. Maybe releasing it in early January would be better.

I think that competition during the Christmas season will be "weaker". But you need to also expect, that not everybody will upvote for you when you message him/her on LinkedIn. Because they will be off the internet.

@imlindsay That's the quandary I was in. I am still going ahead with my launch of Glibzter Immersive later this month as my product is still an MVP catering to India predominantly. Traffic that PH can generate may be lower than average, but competition may also be low. It all boils down to the objective of the launch. Mine is product validation from tech-savvy early adopters and positive word of mouth that can ensue.

Launching during the Christmas season can be a double-edged sword! It’s a festive time when people are more active online, but it can also mean competing for attention with a lot of holiday noise. For us at CloudFit, we’re debating the same thing. We’re in beta testing now and considering if the new year, with all those health-focused resolutions, might be the better time.

I'd avoid it - Get everything prepped for a new year launch would be my suggestion. Way less eyeballs / visibility in general as Dec continues on.

I would avoid launching over the holidays unless you have a holiday-specific product. People are focused on family time, travel, shopping etc. Better to wait till early Jan when folks are back in work mode and open to trying new things.

I'd say delay the launch till after New Year's to avoid getting buried in the holiday rush. Early Jan is prime time for folks looking for fresh products and content after the festivities. Better visibility and engagement potential then vs competing with Santa 🎅

I would lean towards no. People are focused on family time and gift giving during the holidays, not browsing for new apps and products. You'd likely get less exposure than at other times of the year. The exception might be if your product is very holiday or gift focused. But in general, I'd wait until January when people are back to their normal routines and open to trying new things. Just my 2 cents!

That shouldn't be everyone's focus that day. How will you respond then? And I wish you everything goes well.
