Hi Product Hunt Community πŸ‘‹, I am Rupin Mathur, the creator of Pink Paper, it's the gold standard for decentralised content publishing, launching at 12:01 am PDT on 19th April 2023. I am writing this discussion article, to 1) Document what I have learned during the journey so far, so that anyone launching in the future can have a look at it and learn from my mistakes or try what worked for me ( fingers crossed for the launch 🀞) 2) Open up my journey to the product hunt community so that people who are much smarter than me can teach me what could have been done better. so firstly the launch link for my product is: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/pink-paper ( Please give it a try and let me know your feedback) So I'll begin recounting my journey. At the start of January I officially joined the product hunt community, I was apprehensive at first as it would be another platform to learn, explore and build a social reputation on. I kept exploring the platform and reading creator success story ( In the few moments I had while managing a team, ideating the product, building a social media following, gathering funds for my startup etc.) I kept on flirting with the idea of launching my product to the public for the first time through product hunt. But it always kept getting sideline On Sunday, while my team where preparing for the public launch of the platform through other platforms ( We have created a special creator contest and much more, have a look at it here: https://twitter.com/Pinkpaperxyz/status/1647869493832499201?t=F48ScVxQQa5uuoruMeSDdw&s=19) I saw that, I would not be able to explore the product hunt community again and started with the launch on product hunt (By cutting my already meager sleeping time in half ) so I started with the launch, I sat down with our design experts and sorted all the graphics I would need for the launch within a day, and by Monday everything was set for the launch. I realise now that I should have given more time for the launch as recommended by literally everyone. But I thought and still think that it's better to try and fail than to never try at all. So now with the launch scheduled for Tuesday 18th April 2023 I began working only to find a major bug on the platform, which set back our plans to launch by a day and so I scheduled again for 19th April 2023, at 12:01 am PDT. I began by writing reviews and feedbacks on the product hunt website to the products which have launched on 18th April (Usually I would use a product and if it suited my needs just continue using it) Then I reviewed the products which had already launched but my team and I use on a daily basis. Then I shared about the product hunt launch on twitter, discord, telegram and LinkedIn amongst my existing community members, I asked the members to only participate if they had an old product hunt account only.( I actually read on the FAQs that product hunt penalized newly created accounts just for the launch.) I was surprised to find that not many people have accounts on product hunt. Till this moment I had around 6 people, who had agreed to be notified for the launch, I began panicking. I didn't want to spam my community members more or people on the platform, then for no decernable reason I began to randomly follow people. My only logic driving me was that on Instagram and other social platforms at a time in the past for giving a follow you got a follow back. but on Product Hunt, this does not work.( I now have 134 people who I'm following, who I do not know and just 25 followers. ) Frustrated I busied myself on other launches on other platforms. I came back later in the evening and found that the number of people interested in my product had increased. I tried to find what worked, was it the social promotion, or the follow tactic. No it was giving genuine feedback to other makers on the platform. I began with the next phase and started by going back to yesterday's launches checking out the product and giving my feedbacks accordingly. Finally I started participating in the discussions giving answers to questions asked based on my experience so far in entrepreneurship. As of this moment Pink Paper's coming soon page has 13 notfiers. Which may not seem a lot, but I feel proud of given the time, expertise I had dedicated to it. I need to sleep now, but I have a few plans for tomorrow, 1) I'm going to send an invitations for the launch to makers I can find through LinkedIn or Twitter 2) I'm going to keep participating in the discussions 3) I'll give genuine feedback to other makers who are launching on the same day as me. 4) I'm going to ask my community once again to show me genuine support If you are reading this, I thank you so much. I hope you support our launch and I'll give an update detailing my launch day experience. Thank you
