Oversharing vs. Stealth Mode? And how does it affect the business

We have two groups of people here: 🗣️ Those who overshare the activities they do in their business (oversharers) and 🤐 those who are in stealth mode and thus keep their business activities private. Where do you belong to? ---------- 💁‍♀️ Personally, I am a marketer and need to create discussion about something (so sharing behind the scenes is a part of it). Oversharers: – Can get prompt feedback on the product and improve it. – Make the public part of the creating process to gain followers along the journey (fans of the future product). – Have a solid content for sharing. LOOK OUT! Don't confuse oversharers with people who say "What if" and talk about things hypothetically as if they're done – they're just bu**💩ers.) Stealth mode buddies: – They keep private so their activities cannot be copied. – They can take advantage of the moment of surprise. – They have "more time" for work concentration rather than on yapping.

I mean, in 2024 there's very rarely any reason to build in stealth mode. Eventually at some point you're going to have to come out and market it, and the sooner you do, the sooner you learn the most important thing, which is, will anybody even want to pay for this?

I'm more stealth mode, but I also try to provide all information that could be helpful or interesting, e.g. I've published a detailed list of the planned features for my B2C. I understand that as a marketer, it's important to publish engaging content, and maybe also personal things. But also here, I think one should take care not to go too far unnecessarily.

Great question, Nika. I would say it entirely depends on what you're doing. If you're B2C, it's better to share. Building in public is an incredible way for your audience and potential clients to get to know your work. But if you're B2B, you likely won't gain much from creating content. Besides, it's a temporary activity. Unless you have a team, you'll generally be quite distracted if you're doing this kind of work.
