Post-mortem for an average PH launch 🚀 (part 1)

Hey, everyone! I launched IttyTime, a free, stripped-down timeline generator, on December 29. It's a small sliver of a larger project management tool I'm building, and my goals were to: 1. Get a high-quality backlink 2. Test if the extended PH audience might be receptive to the free tool--and, by extension, the PM software 3. Get a feel for the launch experience and what works/doesn't work 4. Connect with new folks on PH I prepared for the launch by: *Creating the required slides, a simple video, and an interactive demo. Budget: $0 *Setting up a teaser around two weeks in advance *Posting the launch on Twitter and Bluesky (I have a tiny presence, so this didn't do much!) *Establishing a PH streak and responding regularly to community posts Results by the numbers: Overall, 106 products launched and only 4 were featured--mine was not among them. Stats for the day include: +7 followers (me) +23 followers (product, includes the teaser) +7 upvotes (product) +1 upvote (launch post) +8 website visits Learnings and observations: *Wow, the marketplace is really crowded! Assuming low-code platforms and AI-generated code are behind this. *The modest response to the teaser (18 upvotes over the course of a week) was a signal that the launch would be similarly low-key. *My tool and the related PM platform may not be a perfect fit for the PH audience. *Unless you are featured, PH is probably not a great way to generate traffic. (This may be different if you launch on a weekday without holidays etc.) *The launch provided an external deadline for adding basic content to my landing page, fixing bugs, etc. This was very useful! 😆 I'll circle back in a week or two when I have a better handle on how the backlink impacts traffic to my landing page/website. Hope this is helpful and thank you for reading! 🙏
