Italy banned GPT, famous people want to pause AI development for 6 months.

I don't think it's even possible to pause or ban a technology. someone will continue and push forward
From my POV stricter guidelines can foster responsible innovation while minimizing potential risks. I suppose it will push AI technologies forward...

And Italy did no ban GPT - it asked Open AI to be compliant with European Law. It was nothing to do with AI itself.
