I prefer WhatsApp and Reddit. But I have also hosted communities on Telegram, Facebook, Discord, Slack and custom community platforms. I would love to hear from you, what is your preferred channel/platform for hosting your community? Today, I hunted Wylo. It's a customizable community platform. Check it out >> https://www.producthunt.com/posts/wylo

A bit surprised by the tech-oriented suggestions here - does everybody only run tech communities? I see many Facebook Groups very active with "normal" (ie non tech) communities 😄

Personally, I prefer to stay in places I'm already at. Ask me to come to a new platform and I might not ending up having as much activity. Slack seems to be a win since I can simply switch workspaces. Next is whatsapp.

Discord only, I love its UI and integrations Most of my team and partners are on Discord. So it makes more sense to use Discord. I have an LGBTQ community on WhatsApp. I also have a prototyping and design community on Circle with almost 4000+ members. Never hosted any community on other platforms. Can't say which is best for the community. Every platform has different use cases 🙌 . But I strongly feel that discord is more intuitive, friendly, and the best solution for any community. I am also switching my circle community on Discord slowly taking one step at a time!

Launching soon!
Twitter worked really well for us. I grew the community on my personal account, mentioned a lot our product Klu oy and magic, now we have the whole Klummunity on Twitter! Actively building one on Reddit and slowly approaching Facebook! Let's see how it works out!

I see WA, Telegram and FB as user-first apps. Community is a secondary feature. In contrast, Discord and Reddit are more community-oriented. I always feel that Discord and Reddit have more community-focused power tools than the other 3. I tried creating and maintaining a discord server, but it didn't take off, though :D . But I think the bots take it to next level when it comes to creating automation, managing users, roles management and setting up proper onboarding flows. But even then, a few more gaps on Discord can be addressed through a web app. I created my account on Wylo and started creating a community. I hope to make a consistent effort this time!

I have seen success with hosting communities on Facebook and LinkedIn groups, as well as using Slack for more focused and intimate groups.

Telegram is very underrated. The best solution for communities.

For me, it's Reddit and Slack.

That's awesome! We use Slack pretty actively. Do folks use Discord?

I never had any success with Reddit... not sure if i'm just not techy enough.
For me its Telegram, I find the UI much easier and convenient than Discord.

if I could persuade WhatsApp and Reddit to have a baby, I would choose that one

Currently, I manage my community on Discord. Discord offers more extensive features and is more convenient to use. It not only fulfills basic social aspects but also allows for the organization of knowledge posts for learning. Additionally, it provides different channels for communication based on various needs, making it easier to address issues or offer assistance to others.
