But we would like to know from you, how do you build rapport when you talk to a new client/customer?

Ask more questions and listen. Don’t just push your product down their throats.
Remember you’re there to provide solutions to their problems and not to pitch your product.
Also get to know them on a personal. Ask personal question at the start of the meeting to let their guard down.

Don't be a typical salesperson, be truly and genuinely find common interest. Also, that’s why you won’t pitch anything just yet at this stage as it only puts them in a resistant zone.
@scythe1 listen and observe carefully. Some topics you can point out to talk about together such as mutual acquaintances, life's concerns, social issues, personal interests, etc. Add and follow each other through at least one social platform to follow what they might usually share and post about is also one good way to bond and rapport
