Which of these social networks can replace Twitter?

In the last couple of days, I came across some news and stats on the internet, e.g.
🦋 "Brazil's X ban is sending lots of people to Bluesky"
📈 "Threads Continues To Gain Momentum Based on Download Charts"
I am on all of them (Twitter, Bluesky, Threads) but still use Twitter most of the time.
🤔 What is your take on it? Will Twitter maintain its position, or will people choose one of these alternatives in the long run?

I think X is quite good for what it is. There are of course several problems and disadvantages (some of which may be fixed, while others probably cannot or will not be fixed). But the alternatives have their own problems, so I don't think X will be "replaced" anytime soon.
I'm planning my own social media platform with significant inovation that will incorporate features from Twitter, Reddit, Wikipedia, but it will probably take a few years.

@konrad_sx how do you perceive all those things related to fediverse, decentralisation of social media etc.? Do you want to incorporate this attribute into your social as well?

@busmark_w_nika Not sure yet. It won't be the focus of my platform. I'll surely start centralized since it's easier to implement.

@konrad_sx Understand! I think that those we mentioned are not done with the concept of decentralisation yet completely.

Mastodon and Bluesky are shaping up to be the best Twitter alternatives. Mastodon has decentralized servers for different communities and interests. Bluesky, backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, aims to give users more control over algorithms and moderation. Other options: Spoutible for short posts, Substack for longer content. Curious what others think - which one looks most promising to replace the Twitter experience?

@hugodominiccarmichael I have never heard about spoutible, will check it out. But for me, it is Substack or Bluesky.
Still checking out the options, but my early favs are Bluesky, Spill, and Substack Notes. Bluesky has a similar UX/design to Twitter. Spill is designed for deeper convos & has solid moderation. Substack Notes leverages existing newsletter audiences. All 3 have potential depending on your use case! 👀

Mastodon for sure! It's like a decentralized version of Twitter with strong privacy and anti-harassment features. The federated model means no single company controls it. Post.news also looks super promising - it puts content quality first and has a novel incentive model. I'm testing both as Twitter alternatives currently.
