Hi Product Hunt, I'm Ahmad, and I built Edyt.
Edyt puts AI on any text you select, in any app, on Mac and Windows. Ubuntu is next.
What the toolbar does:
Rewrite keeps your tone. It follows your own instructions, not a dropdown of three styles.
Explain and Translate, as deep or as short as you ask.
Your saved prompts, one keystroke away in every app, on any OS.
Alternatives shows several ways to say it. Pick one.
Screen reading handles what you can't select. Hold Option (or Alt) and drag over a PDF, a screenshot, or a shared screen, and the text is read on your device.
Your prompts and settings live on your account. Sign in on another machine and Edyt sounds like you there too.
The free plan is enough for most people: about 130 quick edits a day, no credit card. If you need more, PRODUCTHUNT takes 40% off the first year of Pro.
Selected text is sent securely for processing and never stored. Screen reading never leaves your computer.

Thanks! Fair question.
Biggest difference is tone. Writing Tools gives you a few fixed styles. In Edyt you write the instruction yourself, once, in plain words, and it stays yours. Save as many as you like, run any of them with a keystroke in any app. So it sounds like you, not like a preset.
Then there's what it covers. Explain with follow-up questions, proofread that shows each fix before applying it, translate, and alternatives when the first rewrite is close but not quite right. And it works on text you can't select, like a PDF or a screenshot, by dragging over it.
Works on Windows too, same prompts on both.

This is a real time saver for me; having my own prompt pre-defined and ready to be applied to any selected text is an amazing feature. The free plan is generous!
@mahmoudinasab Thanks, that made my morning. The saved prompts are honestly why I built it, I got tired of retyping the same instruction. Glad the free plan holds up too, I wanted it to be enough for a normal day, not a teaser.

love the idea of using AI during a video call to pull out info from a screen share. i always miss stuff because i'm busy taking notes. might give it a shot next call.

Thanks! Right now they're tied to your account. They follow you across your own Macs and Windows machines, but you can't share them with someone else yet.
What I've been planning is a public gallery where people post prompts and vote on them, so the good ones rise to the top.
Sharing with a friend or a team directly hadn't really crossed my mind, and it's a great idea. Thanks for that, I'll think about it.
