Fluence. reads your PDFs, EPUBs, Word, OpenDocument, Rich Text and Markdown files aloud β in a natural voice that ships inside the app, in 31 languages, with nothing to download first. Follow the highlighted text as it plays, ask the document a question and get an answer drawn from its own passages, or record your own voice and have it read back to you. No account, no server, no subscription: one payment, and it works offline for good.

Hi everyone! Iβve put together a short demo of Fluenceβs text highlighting: see where you are as your document is read aloud, and switch back to reading whenever you want.
The video uses real app screenshots, not a continuous screen recording. Watch the demo.
Fluence is available on Android. First 10 documents free, then β¬14.99 once, with no subscription or account required.

What do you listen to, and what would make following along easier?
Congratulations on the launch, Yannick! π Finishing the day at #15 on your first run is a strong result. The detail that sold me is that the voice ships inside the app in 31 languages with nothing to download first β every reader I've tried makes you fetch a voice pack before you hear a single sentence. And asking a document a question and getting an answer from its own passages, all offline, is exactly how I want to read research PDFs on a plane. Hope the day treated you well!
Thanks so much, Neeraj, that really made my day! π Skipping the voice-pack download was one of the first things I wanted to get right, so it's great to hear it landed.
Personal note: I listen to a lot of documents on my commute to work, and it gives me back about an hour of work every day. For me, listening is much faster than reading, and that's exactly why I built Fluence. Research PDFs on a plane fit right in. I'd love to hear how it goes for you!
@yhuchardΒ An hour back every day is a big deal! Do you find yourself reaching for different kinds of documents now that listening is so easy, or is it mostly the same research PDFs?
Great question, Neeraj! Mostly the same kinds of documents, work docs and long reports, but the difference is that I actually get through the long ones on the commute now instead of letting them pile up. π For work I read a lot of regulatory documents, and honestly, they're much more interesting to listen to than to read :)
